To all our wonderful supporters:

Thanks to your commitment during the last couple of years, The Tamminator has been able to continue caring for our dear Maggie with unfailing devotion.  The agency which employs her, however, has fallen way short of the mark.  In Maggie’s words:

“Sunday November 1st will be my last day with the old agency.  I will be transferring to a new agency as of Monday, with The Tamminator on board.  This means much retraining for a new weekend person and emergency fill-ins, plus a cut in pay for The Tamminator that must be addressed, but my treatment by the old agency has steadily deteriorated.  I need to be away from their attitude.

The state's investigation of the soon-to-be-former agency produced two documented results, negative and positive. The first is that they claimed that the reason so many fill-in and weekend attendants came and went is because I am a bitch with unreasonable standards.  But they were also found to have been providing incomplete services and LYING about how many hours the attendants worked for 11 of 14 weeks reviewed.  So the consequences will fall on them.

On to the new year that I prefer to celebrate, I hope against hope for better treatment.”

The new agency pays a dollar an hour less than the old one, which means that the shortfall will amount to $160 a month.  We are currently running short by about $150, so to make this work we really need to raise another $300 a month.

Please consider a regular donation using the button above — if 30 friends contribute only ten bucks a month, we can do it.

But — there’s more!

The need for the extra subsidy could be only temporary.  In January, The Tamminator has the opportunity to undertake a two-week course to earn a CNA (Certified Nursing Assistant) qualification.  This would immediately increase her earnings and cover the $160 shortfall.  The course costs $750, and of course she would have no income while studying.  We plan to set up a fund to raise $1500 to cover the cost of the course and living expenses — more information on how to invest in The Tamminator’s future will follow.

Again, we thank you from the bottom of our hearts.  Your generosity is literally stopping Maggie from being forced into an institution.

Thank you, Tammi, for your caring, dedicated work! It's reassuring to know that Maggie can count on you. And you damn well deserve a decent paycheck - wish we could give you more, but I hope this little bit helps.

Wishing you all good things,
